Frequently Asked Questions

Which AI provider should I use?

All providers offer excellent results. OpenAI GPT-4 provides detailed technical advice, Anthropic Claude excels at conversational guidance, and Google Gemini offers fast responses. You can switch providers anytime in settings.

How much do API calls cost?

API costs vary by provider and usage. OpenAI GPT-4 costs approximately $0.01-0.03 per analysis, Anthropic Claude is similar, and Google Gemini offers competitive pricing. Most users spend less than $5/month with regular use.

Is my audio data sent to the cloud?

Only audio analysis metadata (frequency data, RMS levels, tempo, key) is sent to the AI provider—never your actual audio files. Your audio remains private and local to your machine.

The plugin doesn't appear in my DAW

After installation, you must restart your DAW completely (not just close the project). If the plugin still doesn't appear, check that it's installed in the correct location and that your DAW is scanning those folders for plugins.

Can I use multiple API keys?

Yes! You can switch between providers and update your API key anytime in the plugin settings. Your key is stored locally in ~/Library/Application Support/AIMixAdvisor/settings.xml
